The venture is primarily designed to showcase new writing and, as such, as many plays as are appropriate will be incorporated into each performance.

Brave New World will seek to present 40 to 50 plays of varying lengths as well as approximately 18 to 20 non-theatre pieces that provide texture and facilitate seamless transitions. While a repertory of actors may prove more economical, Brave New World will instead invite actors to participate on a case-by-case basis due to the sheer number of plays and unknown casting requirements to date. The work of a handful of composers and musicians will not only enhance but also round out the program

COMPOSITION OF INDIVIDUAL BLOCKS

Each evening performance will include:

Type of Material Length
Three key plays - substance and length will anchor the evening 60-90 minutes
Three short plays - short pieces, monologues. 30 minutes
One texture element 5-15 minutes
Two balance elements 10-30 minutes

Note: Performance times are approximate; the submitted material and final rosters of actors and directors will govern the precise structure of performances.

The texture elements and the balance elements may be original pieces or considered artistic companion pieces to bind the evening as a single unit and into the flow of the venture as a whole. These elements include: choirs, music, stand-up figures, and short films. It is vital that each unit/block of performance has its own internal integrity and is presented as part of a cohesive whole even if there is an element of chaos in the air.
